No sooner did I click on this did a massive feeling of sadness and some joy swept over me as I remember a time, when me and my dad were home together over a period for a few days where he was not at work and he saw the last bit of this movie on tv and loved it so much that he grabbed me and we drove down together to the Video store and rented the VHS of this and part 2 and watched it together on a bright sunny day. Just me and him no one else was home. It was then I could see my father had a deep love for horses and I later found out when he was a poor farm boy in a Greek village in the 50s did his father have a horse of his own and he always loved them since. It was one of the few moments in my childhood where I got to bond with my father who was tough on the outside and rarely showed his emotions. But when this movie came on, I could see a little boy in him who missed his own childhood. Some movies and stories can do that and I hope I never forget that time we had together.

I watched this everyday to fall asleep at night when I was a toddler. This helped inspire me foe my days in 4H. Every time I watch it as an adult I cry because of the intense nostalgia I feel. It’s easy for me to slip back into that space time where I was small and my world was simple albeit terrifying at times. But this story always showed me that with love and determination anything is possible. I will always love this movie.

This soundtrack never fails to give me goosebumps. My all time favorite soundtrack and movie. It is so moving to see such a incredible bond between man and horse. Brings tears to my eyes, missing this incredible bond with my heart horse. It is something so indescribable, so beautiful to have with an animal.

Growing up, my grandparents introduced this movie to me as a horse crazy young girl. I loved it so much that as a 8yr old kid, I tried the bareback (no bridle or saddle) scene with my miniature horse and proceeded to break my arm. Advancing to now as a 19 year old still horse crazy girl, The Black Stallion continues to be my favorite movie. So much so that I even bought a Arabian horse. My dream would be for me and my Arabian to Sardinia and perform this scene, for now I will be working on this dream at home.
