In this video, I thought it would be useful to go through some of my mindset and the steps that I took to fulfill my goal as a full-time freelance colorist. My approach might be different from those who has been doing it for decades, so I think its helpful for someone who is looking to pursuit in this digital age.

this is awesome. I've recently made the choice to throw myself into this- to try to make a career of it. I have lots of doubts, but am passionate about this and want to try and see it through. I'm close to wrapping my first ever feature I've graded shot on film. there's been a few bumps along the way, but hearing that these mistakes are normal is reassuring. I hope that in a year I can look back and be a lot farther in my career, especially since where I live there are not a lot of Colorists in general. going to take lots of your advice. thank you again for this!

Fantastic video, appreciate it. I'm a Film student who's trying to get into my school's Post-Production program. It touched my heart when you mentioned Cullen Kelly, Darren Mostyn, and Casey Faris because I have been religiously studying color work through their guidance, daily! 😄

Thank you for the additional tips and outlining the process of what breaking into this field of work looks like 👍

Oh mann, I just realised that you're Malaysian. Didnt expect Malaysia has a good colorist like you.

I have watched your commercial color grading tutorial, initially I thought it was from foreign youtuber. Btw thanks a lot for your knowledge and sharing bro.

Dude this video was awesome. Something I'd love to see as someone getting into color grading is a Discord server with colorists where we could talk, help, livestream coloring, and more... I find myself always running into little things that I will bother the entirety of some Facebook groups for... a server with some younger colorists where we could talk and hang out would be amazing!
