The Desecrator set's 2 piece bonus turns the Desecrator passive into a gigantic AoE effect via "Screaming Skulls" (the pink things you see everywhere). The net effect is an enormous AoE multiplier for all Shadow attacks. The 3 piece bonus gives you an infinitely-stacking damage buff, which makes the set decent vs. bosses as well. The 4 piece bonus gives the skulls a 1% heal and converts all over-healing into a shield, up to 30% of your max health.

Life Reap is a decent attack skill because it hits 3x per second with 150% Attack Speed. Bone Storm deals roughly the same damage over time as Life Reap. I give them both equal investment from Mastery, but you can give them points however you like.

Note that Life Reap is giving an additional 15% damage buff, and Bone Storm is giving 20% Physical Resistance (which is needed to max out Physical Resists in my setup).

The build is very soul-hungry, which is why I'm using Hellstone Amulet. This allows you to cast both Soul Barrier and Ritual of Souls frequently. I recommend casting a maxxed-out Soul Barrier prior to engaging a new pack of monsters. Even though this will temporarily reduce Ritual of Souls' bonuses, the shield will allow you to soak up a bunch of damage before your healing kicks in.

Since there are so many "core" Mastery points, I recommend spending points first on increasing damage (directly or indirectly) and only taking defensive/utility Masteries when your damage is up to speed.
