i love the line one of the penguins say (it might be Skipper) i have some good news and some bad news. the good news is we'll be landing immediately the bad news is we're crash landing ... i just remember laughing

I feel like this movie has a lot more emotional and powerful moments than the first. The way Alex was kidnapped by hunters before ending up in New York was a pretty dark, sad and powerful moment, the scenes with his parents are very heartfelt, and the romance story between Melman and Gloria, while pointless, I still felt every pain and emotion they were going through. The scene where Gloria rescues Melman from the volcano I think is their most epic moment in any of the films. Melman feels like he has to die, all because he lost the true love of his life to Moto-Moto, but Gloria ends up realising Moto-Moto loves nothing but her looks while Melman truly loves her for the wonderful, funny and intelligent female she really is, so she has to save her true love from getting tossed into the lava and reunite with him while also revealing her true honest feelings for him.
Besides, I think Makunga is a pretty good villain, just because of the way he's a true selfish asshole to everyone on the savannah. Yeah, he feels a bit bland, but throughout the entire movie, you just want him to be punished so bad for what he's done, which he of course was at the end. The part when the old lady finally beat him up was such a satisfying and hilarious moment. While I still think the first movie is funnier, I highly admire all the heartfelt and epic scenes this sequel had.

The old lady is actually the main villain and is preety funny. The Alec Baldwin lion is sort of just the secondary villain.

I was obsessed with madagascar when I was like, 7.  I love all three movies!

In my opinion, I think this is the best film out of the three. It had a much better balance between the comedy and emotional moments and it wasn’t as in-your-face like the first film (especially not as much as the third film too). Despite my main criticism of it ripping off several plot lines from Lion King, Joe vs the Volcano, and Happy Feet, it was an improvement.

3:37 Meh, I disagree - a lot of people really dislike the first _Madagascar_, but think the second one is fantastic, like you with the _Shrek_ movies. And even as someone who likes the first _Madagascar_, I think the second one is *a lot* better.

I think the reason why the Madagascar sequels have second titles is to make audience know we're somewhere else.

I have to agree, I just watched the 3rd one and it kept me guessing on what was going to happen next and I really enjoyed it

When they were in Madagascar they were already in Africa... Shouldn't it technically be called "Escape 2 Another Part of Africa"?

Why is it that in Nostalgia Critic videos, he gets very annoying, but I videos like this, he's tolerable and even likeable at times?

I like Zuba because according the creators, they made the alpha lion into Alex's dad so he would "be someone very powerful who is in [Alex's] life whether he likes it or not. Then the twist is that he isn't an asshole(though maybe occasionally insensitive). He is generally a nice guy."
