3D Vs. 2.5D Animation! [ SFM ]

So now, here's the animation comparison between 3D and 2.5D using SFM!
The difference between the two styles are one of the following:
3D: A style where everything is made under third dimension and no 2D features.
2.5D: A Style where you make not only 3D, but to also mix it with 2D styles, along with making it work well with cel shaded styles to make it look like it's from the actual cartoon.

3D Vs. 2.5D Animation! [ SFM ]

2.5D is now my favorite animation because I love how the Spider-Man into the spider verse animators bring some sort of a comic to life.

The motion blur in the 3D version is really distracting to me. That's one reason I prefer the 2.5D version, but it's also because the cel shading and outlines make Pearl's silhouette easier to "read" (for lack of a better term).

2.5D looks more gripped, sharped and more flowing animation than 3D

2.5D is amazing. The bold outlines makes the character pop more. I think the character (pearl yes I know there name) is animated on 2’s. It kinda gives off the spider-verse feeling of animation. Maybe if you made the movement a little bit less exaggerated it would seem natural but not to natural for it to feel realistic.

The way the 2.5D animation moves is.... uncanny to me. Like the uncanny valley we're talking almost. It looks so smooth, yet so choppy at the same time, thus it gets on my nerves.

The 3d stuff would've been good if the quality wasnt just actual trash. At this state 2.5d is better.

imo the motion blur and tweening/frame interpolation in the 3D pass muddies up your pose to pose motion. The lower frame rate and flat rendering style make the 2.5D feel more 'intentional' and lends itself better to the snappy animation style! 3D could still work fine, but the higher frame rate means there needs to be more detailed in the breakdowns so the transitions to each pose are less linear.

Personally i liked 3D better. In my opinion your remakes are actually managing to be far superior than the original versions at this point.

I think the reason most ppl like the 2.5 designs more is that there’s cel shading and outlines
