Reenactor who was present, here. The act we agreed to was to purposefully separate the surrendering SS guys from the Wehrmacht and put them in the dirt. Historically, the SS was not lawfully a part of Geneva or Hague or any official combatant of the German armed forces, as they were Nazi party members who wouldn't be accountable for any war criminal acts. It was common to dispose of official members of the Nazi party as A. it wasn't a war crime to get rid of paramilitaries, B. well, they're SS, their job was to be the boogiemen that the German army wouldn't be accountable for.

Kinda disturbing some of the spectators reaction to recreated war crimes. It's a not something to take so light hearted
