John David Ebert - Spengler's The Decline of the West

The Decline of the West, or The Downfall of the Occident, is a two-volume work by Oswald Spengler, the first volume of which was published in the summer of 1918. Spengler revised this volume in 1922 and published the second volume, subtitled Perspectives of World History, in 1923.

Listening to this 2018 post in 2025. Just after Trump's second inauguration and exactly three years after Russia invaded Ukraine. You can really start to appreciate the value of Spengler's insights.

It shouldn't be overlooked that Nietzsche's mythological heuristic soon received massive validation by Sir James Frazer, and Spengler is writing before the decade has closed on "The Golden Bough."
