The Beacons: Jasmine’s Story

To help change that, this HS Awareness Week we’ve created The Beacons, an honest six-part video series with enigmatic host Jasmine IVANNA Espy, which explores the lives of six individuals living with hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) from across the US, Canada, the UK and France. The conversations cover the true impact and healthcare environment for people with HS, from motherhood and dating, having to give up hobbies and making career changes to finding support in the community, and more.

HS is a painful and recurrent inflammatory skin disease. It causes boil-like abscesses that can burst, creating open wounds, often in the most intimate parts of the body, resulting in irreversible scarring. It can take 10 years to get a diagnosis, even though HS affects approximately 1 in 100 people globally.
