The Jinshanling Great Wall is located in Luanping, Hebei Province, and is an important section of the Ming Dynasty Great Wall. It was first constructed during the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty and has been well restored. However, due to its remote location, there remain many stretches of the Wild Great Wall that have not been repaired, preserving the original appearance of the wall, where one can still see watchtowers, beacon towers, battlements, and horse ramps.

This time, we didn’t specifically visit the Jinshanling Great Wall scenic area but instead hiked a section of the Wild Great Wall near where we were staying. From a distance, the wall appears like a hidden, undulating dragon, winding through the lush green mountains, as if a silent game of chess is being played between the giants of history and nature. When we reached the edge of the beacon tower and touched the broken remnants of the wall, we deeply felt the insignificance of humanity. No matter how majestic the Great Wall might be, it may not outlast the few blades of grass on the plains, let alone the mountains and rivers that have stood for millennia.
