Opening The Coffin Of Queen Elizabeth I

One of the most brilliant yet ruthless Queens ever to rule over England was Queen Elizabeth I, the daughter of Henry VIII and the final Tudor monarch. Elizabeth throughout her reign would deal with her enemies including Mary Queen of Scots and the Spanish Armada, but across the nation the axe would fall if anyone dared to cross the Queen. Elizabeth I would in her final years become a shadow of her former self, as she became very depressed and down.

But in 1603 the Queen passed away inside of Richmond Palace, and then her funeral occurred a month later inside of Westminster Abbey. But then in the centuries after her death, Elizabeth I's burial vault and coffin was broken into and what those who did this saw was rather compelling.

Looking at a coffin is not the same as opening a coffin

The title is misleading. The coffin was not opened.

Elizabeth stood for days before her death as she knew that if she stopped she wouldn't ever stand again. I have no idea how that is a woman who stopped fighting.

NO coffins were opened, in the making of this video

69 years old back then was very old. I don't believe she gave up, she just died. This woman was a fighter, a survivor. She was clever, articulate, charming, cunning and brave.
Elizabeth put right a lot of the damage her father had done. She was a great monarch.
Although a lot is said about her not beating the Armada (it's said the weather won the war) She WAS Queen when the Armada fell, and she IS the Queen that gave the Heart and Stomach of a King speech. Elizabeth, Monarch, Queen and was married to England.

What happened to "Opening the coffin?"

To me the mark of a great statesman is avoiding wars and keeping the peace. To that end I think she was our greatest monarch.

Why call the vid the opening of the coffin when it was not?? Agree with the other comments about the monotone narration

Queen Elizabeth l coffin wasnt ever opened, its was looked at by The Dean of Westminster Abbey when they were trying to find where king James l / Vl was misplaced.

You get a thumbs down for playing with words for clicks.

Alot of people do research where history is concern. Remember that..

Why don't we just leave them alone. Let them all just rest in peace.

Someone should again visit the coffins and give an updated report on their condition.!

About 20 years ago, her coffin and effigy were in the catacombs below the Abbey. Now they have her on the main floor, so she was moved.

She was right for her time, ruthless, but if you were not they would get to you unless you got to them first. England had out grown her by the time of her death.

They never open the coffins of past kings and queens stop lying

I found the commentator's voice unclear, and had to read what he was saying. Also, the coffin was not opened. I agree with Joyce Brown, about the clicks.

She was a good ruler, but ruthless. Her Father Henry VIII was a monster. It is said that he caused 72, 000 people to be executed. BTW I love your narration.

1500 pounds in the early 1600's that's an enormous amount of money to spend on a tomb.😮
