I have several of the Sigma lenses for my 80D. I'm considering this lens as my next, especially for low light. One thing that separates the Sigmas in general from others is the constant aperture, which is incredibly valuable for video so you can zoom in/out without having to adjust lighting.

We've thought about upgrading to this lens too since we have an 80d but we've found that it is super heavy. Too much for yen to carry 😅 but great footage and looks like a real high quality piece 👌

Get the dock! My 50-100 has such accurate focus now through the viewfinder - it's razor sharp. Completely worth the money.

I've read that the lens focuses better in live view as the light falls directly onto the sensor. When you focus through the viewfinder the image hits the mirror and is reflected through the viewfinder and also onto a separate focusing sensor, which is less likely to marry up with the actual sensor. This is apparently why mirrorless cameras don't have a problem focusing with this lens.
