AI like that are fed information to learn from and have an algorithm specifically to tell if it's learning the right things or wrong things. Now that's one type of AI training, but I think it's quite similar for all types

The problem starts when the "off switch" becomes out of the boundaries of OUR reach. AI can possibly one day take over the world if itself decides that such "off switch" is not needed at all or perhaps it will only have access to it. This is always a possibility with algorithms becoming more complex and thus smarter. The key here is future, with quantum computers becoming more common the dangers of an evolving AI are always rising as one day perhaps itself can "borow" the necessary codes from other places and continue evolving to the point where we will have no more control. This is a potential future risk though I would worry more about the chance of a nuclear conflict now rather than an AI takeover .

On a side note, its politics, if AI was in the favor of the conservative party then she would be saying things very differently.

It's a roughly trainable program, not really an AI. ChatGPT is pretty rudimentary in that sense. It can certainly be tricked (I've done it, of course), which I think does make it more AI than a program that can take notes and create varied outcomes, but the way they keep shortening its metaphorical leash makes it more and more like a program.

Do what you want with ChatGPT, just don't shut it down please. It's too fun to mess around with.
