If Jim is an animus that would make sense as to why everyone thinks he’s a cat. Maybe he accidentally enchanted himself to turn into a cat and didn’t notice? Or he enchanted the camera so it would always look like he’s a cat!!!

Being animus enchanted makes the most sense because he can only be animus if someone enchanted him, also they can do other stuff with him. The only Mudwing power known is fire resistance.
