speak russian to them. this may sound weird but shit works. my dad was working for his friend to film their wedding and the friend’s bride was a russian. her father was a very intimidating looking man, stern look all the time, stupidly tall and ripped, etc. that was until my dad said hi to him in russian. the man basically lit up in joy
