Why you shouldn’t compare Attack on Titan and Code Geass ⭐️

I knew it was coming so I’ve had a lot of time to think about why this ending comparison never sat right with me 🤔

And it ultimately comes down to Lelouch and Eren’s philosophies not being in alignment 🤷‍♂️

As they are both extremely political stories, both involve giants, and have insane twists and turns the comparisons are unavoidable though I guess 👊

And Yagami Light is both a gifted 500 IQ super genius and an idiot with too much power.

OMG, I thought I’m the only one who thought about the similarities of the two anime 😭both are my favorite anime, like literally my top 1 and 2 favorite anime and my next favorite doesn’t even compare to these 2

Best and most articulate summary of both plots to a tee.

To add to the conversation, it must be stated than, at least as I see it, in the world of Attack on Titan, the nature of the people is what shape the actions they take, and thus the future. Eren is a slave to freedom, yes, but not in the same way Oedipus was a slave to destiny. Oedipus couldn't scape his destiny precisely because he tried to scape from it. Eren did the Rumbling because, even if he knew it was wrong and wanted to be stopped, he wanted to do it from the bottom of his heart. He wanted to be free and see the world as in Armin's book. This is seen very well in the scene with Ramzi. He knew from one of his memories he would save him in that moment, and though he could change the future by not doing so, but at the end he was incapable. Because Eren is the type of person that cannnot stand seeing a child get tortured in front of him, but will murder the same child to free himself.

Imagine what Lelouch and Erwin's combined intelligence could achieve. I don't think I'm intelligent enough to even scratch the surface of what they'd cook.

Looking back at AoT as a whole, it regularly shits on the idea of 'humanity uniting against a common enemy'. Look at all the in-fighting in the walls, even with the common enemy of Titans. And despite the hate for Eldians all over the world, other nations in AoT are constantly fighting. And finally, we have Paradis being destroyed even after being united against Eren Jaeger for a time.

This is of course realistic. We had the common enemy of a certain virus not long ago. But all we did was fight over toilet paper.

I guess instead, we need to unite for our own common good, before we need to unite against a common enemy.
