Berserk - NEW MYSTERIES SOLVED (2022)

Don't you love it when you have "EUREKA" moments? I had one of those come out of nowhere the other day. I think I might have solved the mystery behind several symbols from the manga. Special thanks to Adam, Walter and "ANONYMOUS" for helping me with the latter third of this video.

Out of all the people 2021 could have taken away, it chose Miura… I dont think I’ll ever stop wishing for it to be untrue… Berserk is without a doubt one of, if not, the best best stories I have ever read, and I’m absolutely gutted that he wasn’t able to finish it…!! If it had ended on the previous chapter, I would have been “fine” with it, but the final chapter was such a cliffhanger….!

On the Tarot, the World doesn't properly symbolises an end per se. It's the concept of completion. You can see the woman dancing carefree, holding two sticks in opposite hands, in a circular garland that is a nudge to the womb, and the 4 elements around that. It's the reconciliation of what was acquired in the journey, which played a lot with opposites. It's the unity that allows the journey to start all over as a Fool (card 0) again. Yes, completion can be an end, but can also be the start of a new journey. It's completion and evolution, rather than end and transformation (which is contained in the numberless card of Death, although that's the 13th card and in more recent decks it has been explicitly given that number). It's a slight but important different ;)

Miura is very much a historical nerd too, so finding this occult & Gnosticism stuffs is as natural as it can gets with how he love to research/read stuffs.

Next, I think you should do a research on "The Architecture of Berserk" & the possible meanings behind it.

The dagger looking symbol on the protection sigil is found in the necronomicon, on an amulet collected by the “mad arab” while he witnessed a ritual to communicate a cosmic deity in his youth on a mountain side. the mad arab collected this amulet and wore it until he died, i believe the amulet was an object presented to cultists who completed the invocation

I think Miura, as many correspondent western creators do with Asian symbols and concepts, added them to make the manga more exotic for the japanese audiance. Yet let us say that a western author randomly draws some shinto symbols on some page, Nor do we or the author have any deep understanting of the symbol but it looks cool and exotic.

I never thought that Miura was doing this at a simple level as described above; but now I am surprised that we went into such deep corners of western mysticism that even most of us do not know. I think he was doing a lot of reading into western mysticism and occultism and I think this was a factor why he made berserk so slow. The last arcs of berserk went into a lot of world building that now that I think about it is very occult inspired.
