Basel is commonly considered to be the cultural capital of Switzerland. Basel is famous for its many museums, ranging from the Kunstmuseum, the first collection of art accessible to the public in the world (1661) and the largest museum of art in Switzerland, to the Fondation Beyeler (located in Riehen) and the Museum of Contemporary Art (Basel), the first public museum of contemporary art in Europe.
Forty museums are spread throughout the city-canton, making Basel one of the largest cultural centres in relation to its size and population in Europe.

Don't miss this city. Let's talk about the advantages of this city. There are good tram lines and public transport all around. It's rather a safe city. The infrastructure is also good: there is an airport, there are two railway stations, there is a university, there are several hospitals and so on. You'll find a lot of monuments and interesting sights. There are different shopping streets. Of course, there are also a few disadvantages like for example, it can be a little bit pricey. Sometimes there are a lot of construction sites, especially in the summer. In general, the people are really friendly, but sometimes, at least, some people can be rude. But that's actually basically everywhere the same. SO, REMEMBER...it's the city you have always wished to visit! :)

I visited Basel almost once a year for 10 yrs prior to pandemic on business trips. very clean, neat city (a millions times cleaner than NY/NJ area where I live in USA), people are very friendly. Nowadays I don't travel that often due to pandemic. But hope to revisit Basel soon.
