Great advice! My only fear with putting myself in the characters shoes and describing it as I would see/feel/react is that if I do that for every character, then every character will be exactly the same, when in real life people don’t react (even physically) the same way to everything. Fear might make one person sweat while it makes another person go stone-cold. But seems to me the emotion thesaurus is the perfect way to solve that problem. Keep up the great videos!

My favorite way to show instead of tell is by actually acting out the scenes I’m having trouble with and make myself believe I’m in the story. That way it’s a bit easier to feel what your characters might be experiencing or seeing and then understand how to write in a more immersive and interesting way. I might be a weirdo for doing this but it sure is fun!

Also! A friend got me the emotion thesaurus for Christmas, which I am stoked about, and another friend got me The Light Thief for my birthday! Cannot wait to dive in!

I love figuring out how to show something I would easily be able to tell. I wonder if that sometimes makes me overdo some things...
Anyway, love your video's, keep it up!

Ok wow! I definitely have used self-immersion without knowing what it was haha. Usually makes me write a lot slower but the scenes end up reading back much better! Show vs. tell can be super hard but it makes me grateful for editing cause I know I can always come back and actually describe something later if it turns out bland.
Super excited for all your vids this year! I wanted to let you know that when I tried to hit the notification bell on the youtube app on my phone, it told me that function was disabled for "content for kids" :( I know it might be something out of your control, but I wanted to bring it to your attention!
