How GIS Ecosystem emerged in India - EVOLUTION OF NRDMS

The NRDMS programme was set up by the Department of Science & Technology under the mandate of the Planning Commission to develop and demonstrate the methods and techniques for spatial planning at the district or sub-district levels. NRDMS uses a computer-oriented database of geo-spatial data on natural resources for use in local or micro-level planning.
