Swing Time was one of the Fred Astaire-Ginger Rogers films that delighted moviegoers in the 1930s. Among the numbers in the film that the team danced and sang two was “Pick Yourself Up,“ in which Ginger struggled to teach Fred a simple step – if you can swallow that. Of course, with that pair, this sophisticated poker developed into a dazzling routine. Because of its clever key and rhythm changes, the song has become a favourite of jazz bands.
