I remember, just barely, when the McDonald’s on our side of town opened the very first take out window. We had only 2 McD’s in town at the time. I also remember as a kid when every season of Happy Meals had plastic plates, cups to collect. There were also Halloween buckets to collect.

In the old days, Hamburglar stole burgers and Captain Crook stole Filet-o-Fish sandwiches. But there were others! Grimace, known then as Evil Grimace, stole milk shakes, and the Gobblins, later known as Fry Guys, stole french fries.

It's a wonder anybody paid for anything!

I grew up with Ronald, Hamburgler, French Fry Guys, Birdie... and the "McSpoon, " which I have never known anyone to use for anything illicit. I'm sure discontinuing it really threw anyone that did a huge curveball though, right? 😏

lets be honest the mcrib is just a swanson boneless barbecue pork thing we can get year round. They add some onions and the right bun and that's it. It's so easy to replicate at home even if someone doesn't know or refuses to learn how to cook.

McDonald's gets pretty funny about rules. In Niagara-On-The-Lake, Ontario, there's a bylaw which states that fast food restaurants aren't allowed to operate in town -- for the sake of maintaining the overall aesthetic of the community. McDonald's didn't like the rule and tried to fight it but lost -- so the chain established a McDonald's restaurant on the only street which enters the community right on the city line. If memory serves, there's an antique market in a big red barn right next to it.

Mcdonalds did test a sandwich just like the McRib but it was steak and was called the McGrilled Steak. It was shaped more like the bun that the Mcrib was on and was kept in A1 Steak sauce. It was a great sandwich but the price was too high due to the cost of steak at the time and was the reason why it didnt make it too far from testing.
