In those days of no YouTube or very early YouTube, the only way to listen to this soundtrack, alongside the credits theme and the hall of fame theme, was to go and beat the Pokemon League.
Thinking about it sounds so uncomfortable, thankfully today YT and other websites are basically Pokemon encyclopedias of soundtracks, playthroughs and more, but I still miss those magic days nonetheless <3
