Who thought gene could sing like this. Absolutely amazing

I don't really care what anyone says (or what Gene thinks) but this is one of the best tracks they ever recorded!

This is a criminally under appreciated song. Its absolutely my favorite song by them.

Let people think what they want about this album, about this song. All I know is that it brings back the best memories: of friends, of family, of the life I lived, of a great time when I was only 17.

I remember watching this live on Solid Gold when I was 10. I was a huge Kiss fan, and this was awesome then, and still is

A world without heroes
Is like a world without sun
You can't look up to anyone
Without heroes
And a world without heroes
Is like a never-ending race
Is like a time without a place
A pointless thing, devoid of grace
Where you don't know what you're after
Or if something's after you
And you don't know why you don't know
In a world without heroes
In a world without dreams
Things are no more than they seem
And a world without heroes
Is like a bird without wings
Or a bell that never rings
Just a sad and useless thing
Where you don't know what you're after
Or if something's after you
And you don't know why you don't know
In a world without heroes
There's nothing to be
It's no place for me

In this time of great anxiety, the words of this song are more relevant than ever.

I never knew Paul did any solos
I am in disbelief. Wow a great job by Paul while ace played acoustic. Or was it Vincent Cusano... aka vinnie vincent.

This song brings back memories, I remember when it first came out me and my childhood friend watched it on Friday night videos. He died a few years ago. I always drive by his house and remember the night we were watching this and just talking about the video and things all night. Being young and not having a care or worry in the world.

Man this song is awesome. I didn't know kiss had that kind of song in them. Two thumbs up!!!

Gene's vocal performance on this is excellent. There is so much real singing here, it's surprising and impressive. As is the rest of the performances, by the band, the orchestra and Michael Kamen. It's a real shame that they got so much fire for the occasions they tried something different (and a shame that Ace didn't realize that it was actually great pieces of art they created).

totally. they were so good in this era, say 79-81. if you put together a best of dynasty, unmasked and the elder, you'd have a seriously great record. but then The Elder is so good in and of itself. remember listening to it in the dark, on cassette, in the room i shared with my brother, in late 81, after we'd come back to the country we were born. all the way across the world as little kids. The Elder was our beautifully strange friend.

This beautiful, glamorous & elegant video is definitely the swan song of KISS with their "super-star" aura, still intact.
Might have been disastrous times for the band, but, IMO, in 1981, they still HAD IT! After 1981, The Glamour of KISS
faded away. After "Lick It Up" in 1983/84, they lost it. The "pink period" 1978 - 81 was so versatile. And, just Fabulous!

The genius of this song and the whole concept of the album as a whole, marks an unforgettable moment in time x

Three songs from this album was co-written by Lou Reed; "Dark Light", "Mr. Blackwell" and this ballad "A World Without Heroes".

Was 12 years old when this album came out, and was stuck on this song. Was my favorite all time song.
