How to Upgrade Your PS4 Slim with a SSD Drive - Quick and Easy!

In this video, I will show you how to replace your PlayStation 4 Slim hard drive with a fast SSD. You only need a new drive and a screwdriver and a few USB drives to transfer your data. If you want to upgrade a "phat" model, I have a video for that also.

It's November 2024 and this video works. Just upgraded my PS4 with this video and you made it super easy. I have all my games on an external hard drive. I backed up all my content from the system to the cloud and downloaded it all right back to the new hard drive. Plugged my external in and everything started right back exactly as before. Super easy. Thanks for the content.

Good deal. You can also use the HDD you took out of your PS4/ps4 pro and use that as an external drive using a cable that Amazon sells.

Thanks for this! Just bought a ps4 slim used and will upgrade it with ssd. Also plan to change the fan and put new thermal paste on :). Right now i play Assassins Creed 2 and there is soooo many games i never played or gave a chance. So this will be probably be my main entertainment for few years 😁 dont really see the need for a more powerful console rigth now.

My 2014 PS4 slim kept overheating. I couldn't believe how clogged & and burned the fan housing was. Dust completely stopped air flow. I seen dust literally burnt.I bought a mini vacuume off Amazon and some keyboard cleaner in a spray can.
Now I can't even hear the fan running. It's like new. My 2T storage card is almost full.
I play : Days Gone, GTA5, COD, RDR2, The last of us, NFS Hot pursuit, NFS Most wanted, GT7, 2022K golf, NFS Revenge, Flatout, Sonic remastered, The last of us II, and Division 1 & 2
I've been a gamer since I won my first Atari 2600 in 1976.
I still have every council, every game and all the hardware. Game on folks. I'm 59 lol

That is the exact same SSD I am going to install into my PS4 slim tommorow, only I am doing the 1tb pny CS900 I think it's called. Your video is perfect for helping my scatterbrain know exactly what to do lol. I am backing up the data onto USB drive almost finished with that. Also HEADS UP for anyone who runs into the issue where you deselect all of your applications/games and your PS4 is saying you still have a bunch of GB of application data trying to back up. If you have a game in the middle of an update for a newly installed game, like I had GTA5 updating I was unable to start backing up data until I deleted the game that was updating.
