How To Replace Blower Motor & Resistor 2006-2016 Impala Limited - Troubleshooting & Tips

If a vehicle gets old enough, things are going to start breaking and failing on them. My 2015 Chevrolet Impala Limited LTZ has had a few things go wrong with it since I've owned it, and in this video I'll show you what to do if your A/C & Heating Fan Blower Motor stops working. Mine was working fine one minute, and then stopped working the next time I started the engine. I'll show you the troubleshooting I did to narrow down the problem, because when the blower motor stops working, it could be that you have a bad blower or resistor, or just that you have a blown fuse or relay. Finding the problem the quickest and easiest way is what I'm all about. Anyway, everything went great, and I'll give you a few tips I learned when doing my own installation. Thanks for watching, and I hope this video helps you if your Fan Blower Motor goes bad!

To the creator of this vehicle thank you very much. I had to do everything in this video for it to work. I tried replacing just blower motor but ended up the resistor was bad to. I found resistor for $20 on Amazon and blower motor for $40 on Amazon.

Great video. I was going to pay someone to replace mine but you described it perfectly so I will do it myself.

Great video. Thank you very much. My son inherited his 09 from grandpa and I had him do most of this. Could NOT get a second screw started on the resistor so it's nice and tight with one! THanks again

Hey Stan! So my air stopped working couple days ago…replaced some antifreeze in reservoir and drove for a bit. Now the fan seems to randomly kick on and off (when on the heat still works great!) any idea if you think it’s maybe a fuse? Or the fan resistor? I know the fan and temperature are still working fine when they kick on, but GETTING it to kick on in first place seems to be the problem?

For those plastic rivets on the resister, I decided to use a Dremel tool with a burr bit. Just grind off the top of the rivet and then breaking things would be less of a risk.

My issue is that our Impala had the blower on constantly with the key out of the ignition. It would never shut off.

After a resistor change it now “works” and shuts off correctly, but now there’s only low speed, and the fan adjustment knob doesn’t change speeds. 🤬

What if my trunk doesn’t work either? Could it be the black fuse?

I thought those relays were for the engine cooling fans ?

Need 7/32" or 5.5mm socket. Flat blade screwdriver. Maybe need 1/4" socket. Thx!
