The #1 Mistake Anglers Make With Tungsten Jigs

Показать описание
Tungsten lures have changed the way ice anglers approach hardwater fishing in MANY ways. Some of those changes are pretty obvious, while others are more subtle. The most popular thing you'll hear people talk about is lure size. Tungsten is incredibly dense, which means angler can fish smaller profile baits without sacrificing weight.
According to Joel, this is the BIGGEST mistake he sees anglers make out on the ice when they're fishing tungsten lures.

I actually like a small bend to the tip of the rod. If you watch under water footage of feeding gills they don’t always bite and go down or sideways. Sometimes they continue to swim up after eating the bait. There’s no way for you to detect the bite unless the gill swims up considerably to make slack in the line indicating a bite. The slight bend in the tip is perfect for that type of bite!! If the tip isn’t bent the bait is in the gills mouth. SET THE HOOK!!!! Awesome technique for the light biters. 🐟🎣🐟😃

Sorry but I have to disagree. I actually use a small weight above my tungsten jig so my rod loads a bit on purpose. Then even in 50ft of water I can detect even the slightest perch bite. And as a bonus it keeps down tension on your line and it doesn't blow around in the wind making the bite much easier to detect.

Lead should be banned from fishing just as it is from waterfowl hunting due to pollution concerns from snagged/lost lures.

I try telling people this no one listens. Brass is the way to go its also dense and sinks fast but light enough to feel the bite and also non toxic to the environment.

On some ice jigs there is a very small bead on the shank of the hook. Does this have a use or why is it there?

Are these jigs good to use with jaw jackers? Im looking for jigs that can fish with waxy worms and crappie minnows at the same time.

i have to ask this: if a 1/32 oz lead jig weighs the same as a 1/32 oz tungsten jig, why pay the extra money?

Should you tie directly to the jig or use a small snap?

You said you use tungsten so you can use bigger baits? That doesn't make sense. Tungsten makes it so you can downsize.

All this can be avoided by being inside a hut blocking all elements
