Interesting, now let's see Paul Allen's edge retention

Thanks Jared, I was just fine not knowing I needed a knife in this steel 😂

On Larrin Thomas' steel charts he had to give rex121 a 12 out of 10 otherwise it would have completely skewed the data if he gave it a 10.

Most people realistically probably won’t ever need to resharpen that. I’m guessing the steel is why this knife is 300.

Spyderco will resharpen blades free with $10 return shipping to be paid by customer. I have this very knife. It is something next level. Per Spyderco rep. they will resharpen any knife they produce. As far as me, I really have my doubts that given my usage, it will require resharpening. If it does, back to Spyderco it goes.

You know you gotta do a sharpening video on this . . .

Just remember: you cannot have it all. Where you have excellent edge retention you therefore sacrifice flexibility and ductility. It may be hard but there is “too hard.”

Ahh great, now I gotta find a new blade....thanks for the permission slip 😅😂❤

Very high hardness, wonder how chippy those thin Spyderco tips and edges will be

I have a Manix 2 LW in Rex-45 and it’s an awesome steel. I can’t imagine how difficult that is to sharpen with a steel that hard.

As a new knife owner who never wants to sharpen or lose my 200$ knife cutting cardboard this is the best!

I’m a professional edger so I’ll have to see for myself how long I can edge this bad girl.

Holds an edge so long, even the TSA agent won't have to sharpen it after you forget to leave it in the car

That's a very interesting chart. I would not have expected to see all the popular and expensive steels being so close to where D2 tool steel sits at. They dont look so high above it after all.

Nothing is free in our universe. Think of it as the law of conservation of everything. That level of hardness will hold an edge longer but at the cost of edge chipping and much harder to sharpen. Cheers.

And it takes 3 days to sharpen when the time comes.

How does it compare to Sandrin tungsten carbide knives?

True for edge retention, but you best not try to use it to pry anything unless you want a broken blade. Every tool for it's use!
