Digging in the sunlit plateau is great for clay! Also never ever sell iron ore, SO MANY quests use iron bars and you’ll need it all! I spent so many hours farming iron

Every non-shiny gem is used in crafting and many of the non-shiny gems are used in quests. Plus NPCs may occasionally have them as a favorite gift for the day. Saving non-shiny gems is very important. I learned this a while ago. I have come to a realization that every single Shiny Gem is useless outside of selling them so I ALWAYS sell them. Shiny Gems are worth a lot more, so Shiny Gems are very specific for solely selling by the way they are designed. Very rarely Shiny Gems are a favorite gift, but it isn't worth giving them as a gifts to be honest.

I’m so glad stardew made me into a item hoarder because I came so close to selling everything before looking for tips

Grinding gems is easy. Even if you don't see gems in it, they still can have gems in it. If I go mining with a disney character that I signed mining too, then it's even easier. the places where the gems are refresh pretty fast. So you can sell your gems, you don't have to hold on to it. You just need a mining buddy

You don't need to change the time on your console. There is a slider in the options menu to offset the hours in the game so it's daylight.

I think digging for clay is better if you do it while it's raining. First time I dug in the glade of trust, I got around 30-40 clay with 2 fully charged energy bars (blue and yellow bars, 2 times). I dug in the same biome after it started raining, also with 2 fully charged energy bars, and I got 80 clay. I would need to do more extensive testing, but to get more than double, such a large difference during rain, seemed like more than a mere coincidence.

hey yall from the future here the house thing is a dream quest i cant remember the exact thing, but it was a certain number of floors/rooms, the animal companion one is also wrong some animals require more then 2 feeds, there is now a time toggle so dont worry about it however it only changes the appearance things like animal spawn times will not change meaning some animals will take a while since they only spawn once a week for like 5 hours, the crop planting thing is an iffy one its good to keep in mind but pumpkins take typically 4 hours to grow (planting in forgotten lands only knocks of about 30 mins) and needs to be watered twice, sometimes its easier to plant a bunch and then just keep playing for it to rain and harvest them after depending on how badly you need the money

I found that growing most crops in the proper biomes didn't really matter for speed because I wouldn't actually harvest them quicker. But I think for some of the later unlocking crops with longer grow times it might be worth it . . . hmm.

You don't even have to look at the screen when fishing. Click when you hear the audio cue. I literally watch movies while fishing. What I want them to fix is the NPC's standing on the same spot as you. Almost every time I get a flashing gold plant I cant harvest it because Minnie or whoever will run up to harvest from the same node I'm on. This initiates a conversation because the harvest button is the same as the conversation button (at least with an xbox controller on a PC it is). Don't invade my personal space, NPC's need to keep a 6 feet distance at least.

Planting in each biome is only supposed to be 10% faster, so if it's easier, then just plant in one space

you can offset the gameplay time in the game! it won’t impact the gameplay, but it’ll change the visuals in the game so you can play easier

Honestly there really is no reason to time travel mainly because unlike Animal Crossing the shops don't close. A very few amount of characters will be asleep but if anything I've found only about 2 to maybe 3 will be asleep at the same time.

Also in case you didn't know like Goofy's stalls the bottom row for Kristoffs stall changes every day so sometimes you can find some of the really good rarer materials on different days. I always check every day & buy up the clay, glass, bricks, rope, etc anytime I see them since they tend to be a tad harder to amass.

I keep forgetting that this game is still in early access and i dont have worry about completing all of the quests too fast. There's still tons of other features that will be added to the game.

for the record, currently in Settings you can offset the clock to get daylight even if playing at night

Omg you are a genius I thought doing a gem box and fish box was clever. You have opened my eyes to some great ideas thanks a ton!

Great advice on the time thing. Currently starting again because I broke my game not knowing that travelling breaks things.

grinding for gems is an easy way for cash especially early game tho. i don’t have access to pumpkins yet, and the other higher-cost veggies take too long to grow when i need a quick 10k to upgrade or build someone’s house. I grab my maxed-out mining buddy (scrooge, currently), turn on youtube for background noise, and mine thru the plaza, meadow, glade, beach, and forest on a loop. by the time i finish mining in the forest the plaza’s stones have respawned (honestly when I only had the plaza, meadow, and beach unlocked they respawned by the time i was done on the beach), so I can just go around and around endlessly and rack up 20k in gems easily. and when I do need specific gems for a quest I just make sure to include that biome in the loop and use it as an opportunity for some extra money

i do enjoy mindlessly stripmining in minecraft, tho, so maybe that’s why i don’t mind grinding for gems lol

For the fishing, I find the easiest for me isn't to watch for the green circle, but to feel the controller vibrate. Once I feel the bzzz, then hit it!

Changing Fishing and Timebending to Hold instead of tapping makes them a lot easier.
