I spend a week with the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-in Hybrid to see what it's like to live with. It certainly has it's pros and cons but overall I came away more impressed with the Outlander PHEV than I was expecting to be. What do you think about the 2024 Outlander PHEV and would you take it over a RAV4 Prime, Tucson PHEV or Sportage PHEV? Thanks to Mitsubishi for providing this Mitsubishi Outlander 2024 to review.

The Outlander is a fantastic vehicle that far, far exceeded my expectations.

Great getting comments about how sharp the Outlander looks too. 😎

We owned a 2018 Outlander GT (V6 Engine) and it was the only car I regret selling. Great review Matt 🫡

It does not have a variable transmission. It has a SINGLE SPEED transmission, like top gear in any other manual or automatic transmission. This transmission connects the ICE to the front axle only, at speeds above 45 mph, when it needs to.

I wish more car reviews took Matt's style and separated the interior review from the rest... sometimes we just want to see the exterior and performance

Great review. It really is an enjoyable car to drive and yet is possibly THE most practical car you can own. Long range, EV only ability, competent in modest offroad (better than Rav4 due to stronger rear motor), AC power on hand, super comfortable etc.

Being in the same company as the RAV4 Prime is saying something. Nicely done!

I'm a current 2022 Outlander and 2015 EVO owner, I can confirm the spirit of EVO is definitely present on the Outlander with the S-AWC algorithm. Admittedly the Outlander doesn't have the pure mechanical ACD and AYC like EVO does, it uses break thrust vector for the extra yaw control in the back. However it works quite magically, and yes the chief engineer of Lancer EVO IX and X - Dr.澤瀬薰 still works for Mitsubishi Motors even today. That's the reason why they still have this EVO spirit in the Outlander.

Mitsubishi ain’t too bad on reliablility. I’ve had my outlander since 2018 and no major issues just basic services. I do think this one is a little pricey but your getting a lot

Matt, Great honest review, As you know I have never owned a crossover/SUV, always have been a all wheel drive sedan kind of guy. I told you, the Outlander is impressive. I test drove the Outlander when helping my elderly Mother when looking for new car for her. I agree the Outlander is way better than the Rogue, even though it shares the platform, and goes toe to toe with Toyota. Mitsubishi tuned it their way. Mitsubishi tuned the suspension, programmed the CVT differently, did laminated front side glass and better interior, sound damping, mitsubishi did more with the front seats. Again, I was really impressed when I test drove it. Agree The outlander is a solid product, and the styling in person really grew on me, even has headlight washers. I appreciate you reviewing the Outlander to get the word out, it is a solid product. I don't know if I will ever buy one, but if I decide to get a nice size " luxurious feeling" suv this is one, I would seriously consider. reasonably priced, nice "luxurious feel", luxurious features", great warranty, made in Japan. I really want to see Mitsubishi succeed, more competition the better. I love my American made, big, Luxurious, all wheel drive Lincoln Continental, but I guess I have a soft spot for the underdog Japanese car companies, that make great all wheel drive, good bargain, comfy, yet sporty reliable cars. I have my Subaru Legacy, Suzuki Kizashi SLS all wheel drive, and I would love to see Mitsubishi bring back a All Wheel drive sedan, but probably won't because America loves the SUV/Crossover. Nothing against Toyota at all, but I am sick of seeing RAV 4's. I am happy their is another Japanese competitor out there like Mitsubishi. the Mitsubishi Outlander looks better in person in my opinion, the interior is fantastic quality, comfy, and it does have good handling, very confident on the road. Matt, Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Years to you and your Family. Have a good one, Rich p.s. If you do a live stream this weekend I will try my best to make it, love talking cars with you and the other members. p.s.s. It won't do much for views but, next year if in my area of PA, the Lincoln is still available to review and the almighty Suzuki Kizashi as well. LOL

The fact that this is still built in japan and its rear wheel drive biased and also accelerates faster than both the korean hybrids even with them having more power is impressive and also this thing is a sleeper off-road.

Amazing how good their cars can be if they actually tried

I have a 2023 Outlander PHEV. EV mode acceleration is more than adequate for me. I can do 0-80 mph freeway merge in EV mode with no problem.

Great review. Mitsi are protecting the battery in EV mode. If you want performance pop it in 'performance mode', that mode uses the engine to make electric and doubles the EV motor power. Then she really boogies, but it will cost you a bit of gas...but so worth it.
It basically uses the engine as a second battery.

My man, you are a very underrated and unbiased reviewer. You deserve more subs, views and likes tbh. You dont give BS takes, and compare with other competitors fairly. Hope your channel blows up soon. Keep up the good shit.

The single speed transmission is NOTHING LIKE what is in a RAV4.

It's kind of a weird choice not to charge a PHEV on a daily basis given that's how it's intended to be operated.

It's a great vehicle. We're picking ours up in a couple months.

Outlander PHEV does not have 3 Electric Motors, only 2.

Also the Battery size is 20kWh not 16.8.

I think you may have confused the size with the Toyota.
