RPM tester or Tachometer with Arduino | Mini Arduino projects

In this video, I've explained how to make RPM meter or RPM tester or tachometer with Arduino. I've tested up to 5000 rpm and it has +/- 10% error. I think for us (talking about electronic hobbyist), this RPM meter has enough accuracy to use.
Here, I've used Arduino UNO board, one 16x2 LCD display, one potentiometer (value is 10K), one self-made IR sensor module.

Also, this can be done without Arduino by gluing small magnets around the disc and then using a Hall effect transistor to ‘sense’ both speed and direction.
