There are often discussions among people about whether Russia is an ally of Armenia! To find the answer we don't have to look far, let's turn to the historical facts of 100 years ago! 1920, July-August, occupation of Nakhichevan and Zangezur by Russian-Azerbaijani forces. On August 2, 1920, Arshak Shirinyan and Vahan Khoren, members of the Parliament of the Republic of Armenia, were shot by Bolsheviks in Goris. On August 10, 1920, according to the Armenian-Russian Treaty of Tiflis, the Russian-occupied regions of Artsakh, Zangezur and Nakhchivan were declared "disputed territories". On August 24, 1920 a Russian-Turkish treaty of "cordial and sincere friendship" was signed. Western Armenia and part of Eastern Armenia were recognized as an integral part of Turkey. The Russians promise to continue supplying arms and ammunition to the allied Kemalists, to arm the Turkish army, and to support Kemal in his struggle against the Entente and its ally, the Republic of Armenia.
