Regarding the discovery of infant ilium in France, even without getting into whether or not hybrid babies may have had fewer chances of being viable, just looking back 100 or 200 years ago, the loss of a new baby was fairly common. It's so sad to think about, but I would guess that tens of thousands of years ago it was even more difficult to successfully raise children to adulthood. When you consider what our ancestors endured its amazing that we are still here.
