In 1999, the Lutheran World Federation signed a joint declaration with the Catholic Church on the doctrine of justification, agreeing that we have different ways of expressing the same belief. In 2006, the World Methodist Council affirmed this decision, as well as the Anglican Consultative Council and World Council of Reformed Churches in 2017.

We are saved by grace through faith, but if you truly have faith, the fruit of that faith will be acts of love throughout your life.

Catholics and Protestants share a lot more in common than we think.

The way I heard it explained is like this, "We don't do works to be saved, We are saved so we do works ". As a protestant I've always heard that Catholics say works get you into Heaven, so glad that's not true!

I'm not Catholic, but I agree with this. If we have faith, we should want to leave behind our selfish works and start choosing God's works more and more as we get better at choosing to follow Christ every day.

I’m a Protestant, I’ve been studying the Adventure Bible and Catechism in a year with Fr. Mike. When I learned what the Church teaches on Justification, I 💯 agreed. What I’m fining…I’m more Catholic than I am Protestant at this point.

i’m a traditional Lutheran but i believe that through accepting Jesus and doing our best to live like Him (we will never achieve that because He was perfect and we are not, but we well can try) through good faith, good works will follow suit.

This is one thing I always enjoyed when speaking to my catholic Brothers and Sisters on my 2 yr mission, for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Is that evangelicals or others think that we believe we have to “work” our way to heaven, we also don’t believe it, we know we are Saved by Christ grace, and we do “works” because of our love for him, and I think to humble ourselves to him.

I’m beginning to understand that Mental Assent is NOT ENOUGH. Simply knowing about Faith, or simply having Faith is not ENOUGH. It’s what you do with that faith. I can’t sit here and be like, “well I have faith im saved” just because I know it, does not mean I am acting within Gods Grace.

Honestly, sometimes I don’t even want to do good things for people due to possible embarrassment or laziness. But God is so good and gives me the grace to do good things for people…even if I don’t feel like it. It’s not because I think it will get me into heaven, but it’s because I love God and I am faithful. Even if my emotions don’t align with the Lord’s, I will do His good will.

I praise the Father daily, and include you in my prayers to him, for since I was lost and without faith. But yours who are walls of faith, and righteous by God’s grace. In the Father, the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost, was I shown Love and righteousness, joy, and hope, in a hopeless world. Brought to him by your beacons of light.
