That's a really good news for Boeing. Good to see more Dreamliners being delivered by different airlines!!

It is a buyers market right now. A 50% discount on anything would be a smart move.

Well i really expected that, most of b787's parts such as fuselage or horizontal stabilizers are created in Italy by Leonardo company.

Alitalia really needs a fleet update especially to replace its 777s, that are nearly 20 years old. The 787 is just perfect for Alitalia, because they are cheaper than the A350, they are partially produced in Italy, they are smaller than the 777s and couls alse be a replacement to its A330s (that are pretty comfortable by the way) with the -8 variant. Also, the huge discounts are really attractive, reaching 50%. Airbus is trying to sell to Alitalia also the A350 and the A330 Neo, that, I think, they would be even better that the 787, because of the fleet commonality with the A320 anf because I personally prefer Airbus, because their planes are more comfortable. Also, as Italy is taking advantagr of Europe's recoveru fund, I wouldn't be surprised if EU tries to sell to Alitalia only Airbus's planes. Plus, alitalia will probably order the A220 to replace the E175 and 190

As a huge patriot, 787 and alitalia fan, i really LOVE this news!

Also, alitalia has idea to order a220s or buy more a320s.

I really like the 787 for Alitalia. All they need are 787-9s for all of their long haul routes. No 787-8s or 10s, just the 787-9s. For their shorter routes - just the A320neo; and that’s it. No A319s or A321s, just the A320s. 2 aircraft types only and they’re covered. Get rid of everything else.

Despite some issues, one should not forget that 787 is very innovative aircraft for its electrical usage inplace of traditional hydraulics for many systems. Aerospace engineering is convervative when it comes to implementing new technologies in products but kudos to Boeing and its amazing men & women who designed this 787. All the best for this awsome long range bird!

I have a feeling that WS might activate their 10 options for 787-9’s as they will need it for expanding transatlantic flights and possible expansion to South America and Asia. Back in January I think Boeing announced an order from an unidentified customer for 10 787-9’s. I wonder if it was WS activating options. They already have 6/10 delivered with the remaining 4 being delivered in 2021

This is a great news! Please discuss also the ongoing fiasco inside Philippine Airlines management and what could be the possible effect of this with ANA. Thanks!

But new planes won't help much if the crews on the ground and in air don't change their attitudes. Alitalia almost never made many profit. They have been surviving for ages thanks to EU or Italian state subventions.... That's reality

Here's hoping this happens, because it's very possible that one Dreamliner assembly line will be shelved. Many airlines won't accept a 787 made in South Carolina. Please, buy some airplanes!

Another Italian newspaper said that they were also thinking about getting the A220 to replace the ageing fleet of the CityLiner. Ordering the A220 and 787 would also benefit Italy as parts of these 2 aircrafts are manufactured in the country. Other sources said that Airbus wants to take over Boeing by supplying the airline with A350s and A330neos but that would be possibile if the french manufacturer gave Alitalia 65/70% discount.

Best Fleet for any Airlines - A320 Single Aisle, B787 - medium, A350 and B777 long haul.

Former glory? There' was never any glory in Italian aviation.

Do you think they would get a big discount due to the recent cancellations and low demand for wide body aircraft

Excellent approach. I wish Thai Airways would do something similar for their long haul fleet, rather than buy one of every plane that is made.

Boeing for the long haul, Airbus for the medium and short haul. Apparently with huge discounts. It's a good time for a fleet overhaul, hope it goes ahead. Luv AZ.

Taking into account their financial situation I would expect A330neo + A320 as this would most likely give them a bigger discount (beside the already lower list price of the A330neo variant) and commonality benefits. A330neo would also fit their network with range on pair with the 787 or even better.
