Floyd Shivambu's surprise exit from EFF | What it means for South African politics: Sanusha Naidu

This week saw the departure of Floyd Shivambu from the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF). Shivambu announced that he is joining the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party.

He has been with the party since its founding in 2013.

Political analyst Sanusha Naidu joins us via video link to weigh in on the resignation and other political stories making headlines.

My love for the EFF, with Floyd Shivambu is unmatched. A lot is in our heads, as to what really transpired. But more than anything, is he not gonna be USED by Zuma, just like Jubulani and others, who were recently axed out of parliament 😢. Will it really be his happy place, despite all. I mean, he rubishes all allegations that formed part of division in the EFF and complemented Julius's leadership style like an abused woman. I am really worried. But if you look at his character, he is a deciplined person, who does not like lamplight. Floyd does not like cameras, he is not outspoken but compare their speeches in parliament; Floyd offers direction insights, well informed and well researched information unlike to Julius, too loud and there's no standardized elementary knowledge or skill that has informed him.

I hope he will come and finish what they started. People are going to be killed at conference, just position. Yes, it has ever happened before, but if ANC conference can be clumsy as it was, what about this one....for now, I so move.

In my own country, Namibia, Henny Seibeb divorced his party as well that he co-founded with former Cde, Bernardus Swartbooi after he abscorned from party work for about 6 months.
