Your point about having to win the WC to be a success is nonsense. If the team plays well and is exciting to watch and gets to say the quarters and semis the public would back the manager and the boys. The problem is he's overly cautious when England have very good attacking options

You're wrong about Rice, he can pass and does so when an appropriate opportunity arises, but unlike creative players who play further up the pitch, he is not encouraged to by Southgate and Moyes, both being very defensively minded managers. Also, unlike Grealish, Foden, Stirling or Rashford for example, he is discouraged from risking losing possession, as it is considered more of a disaster if he does in his deeper part of the pitch.

Didn't Foden play in the euros and everyone wanted Grealish instead?

Fans always fixate on a player that's left out. Happens with Ireland as well.
