Lyrics:
I only had a couple drinks last night
And few good hits from an antler pipe
And I must admit, I had a few white lines
And I don't know what all happened
I woke up in the noon time light
With a poundin' head, shiner on my eye
And I don't know how and I don't why
But it feels like fierce abandon
Ah, working on a buildin' out'a hand-hewn brimstone
Workin' on a buildin' and I'm buildin' on it all alone
Well there ain't nobody in my room tonight
Goodnight honey, honey sleep tight
Ma I swear I'm doing alright
But when the evenin' comes around
I swear to God
Pay no mind to the words I say
'Cause they ain't no count anyway
I been ramblin' around and led astray
By the paths that I been choosin'
Cuttin' paths like a forest fire
Pupils wider than backhoe tires
Throwin' my money on a funeral pyre
But it sure feels good abusin'
Ah, working on a buildin' out'a hand-hewn brimstone
Workin' on a buildin' and I'm buildin' on it all alone
Well there ain't nobody in my room tonight
Goodnight honey, honey sleep tight
Ma I swear I'm doing alright
But when the evenin' comes around
I swear to God
Bands too loud for their bible thumpin'
Feels too good to not count for somethin'
Big Sandy rock, Sludge River roll
Goddamn, fire in the hole
Look out baby, I'm bound to blow
I'm bound to blow a gasket
Damn good gig, good damn crowd
Good God, for cryin' out loud
Coming off stage I was mighty proud
Then I don't know what all happened
Ah, working on a buildin' out'a hand-hewn brimstone
Workin' on a buildin' and I'm buildin' on it all alone
Well there ain't nobody in my room tonight
Goodnight honey, honey sleep tight
Ma I swear I'm doing alright
But when the evenin' comes around
I swear to God
I swear to God

I don’t listen to Tyler Childers everyday, but when I do, so do the neighbors.

Please don't change your style to become more mainstream. This is what we need, some good ole roots country music. Thank you!

It's 2:30Am, I'm quarantined and watching this while I eat Cheez-its. I have no regrets.

I'm really starting to like this fucker. It helps that he is from the same area I am, and there is always so much negativity coming from here that something real and good like his music is a nice change of pace.

Incredible Tyler. I'm 66 soaked in all the American singers from Townes and back again. Had given up on ever finding someone new who would be worthy of a place with the hierarchy but I was so wrong. Your songs are so powerful are relevant with a performance to match. Thank god for YouTube and all the best from England.

Mr. Childers... I don't know what to say besides this is they way music aught to be. I'm so thankful I heard "White House Road" two weeks ago. It has been the best two weeks of quality, heartfelt lyrical masterpieces round my house since. Heck, even my little daughter (14 months) cant help but stand up and do a little jig when she hears your tunes. God Bless

Who could give a thumbs down on this? Even if you’re not into country music you can see that he’s one of the most talented singer/songwriters on the planet!

I use to not really like country music. Then I heard Tyler Childers. Turns out the "country" I didnt like is that pop country trash, not good stuff like this.

Finally some fellas that knows and remembers what real country music is about. All these modern chumps have no idea. I've listened to this performance more than a dozen times and it never gets old. Bravo from an Oldtimer that knows classic country music. Awesome job

Heard this song on the radio for the first time about a year ago when I lived in Hendersonville, TN. (home of Johnny, Conway, Roy and about a thousand other people that "back in the day" wrote good country music). Wake up Nashville! Great NEW country music ain't on Nashville radio. You gotta seek it out, but it's worth the trouble. God bless Cody, Whisky, Tyler and all the others out there keepin it real!
