Hi Andrea!

I recently read your blog and wow…you will never know how strongly this resonated with me. I fell in love with your character and the relationship she had with Michael as a 15 year-old romantic. And I always wondered why that character departed from the show. Now that I know the full story, I just have to tell you that your words have been inspirational for me. Things have certainly changed, as I am now a 23 year-old graduate with a BFA in Acing who is often terrified because I feel empty and/or anxious when I am out searching for work. It’s strange, really. It’s like the joy I felt before it became a competition, before it became an obligation…before it became a job...is gone. And I hate that. It wasn’t until I went away a few weeks ago to study at this intensive in Maine that I learned about self-awareness and self-care. Every morning, the instructor would have us lay on a yoga mat and try to focus on a specific part of our body for 30 seconds. She said to simply focus on the sensation that came along with it. For most of us this task was incredibly difficult. My mind kept going to a million places. With a bit of side coaching, our instructor shared that it’s amazing how society has conditioned us to work towards its standards of success and even more amazing how we kill ourselves trying to attain them. When we ‘fail’ to reach these standards, we start to devalue ourselves. But she also informed us that it is possible to find comfort in what is unfamiliar, in what is beyond our control. Checking in and processing how we’re feeling…admitting that we are not entirely okay. Being aware of our emotions and state of being…it is incredible how valuable these things are. And reading your testimony has reassured me of that notion. I am thrilled to know you are a certified yoga instructor and care enough to share your wealth of knowledge with us through your youtube channel.
