Bit of Trivia: This song is actually a remix of the original High Voltage which came out in a EP the band made before their first album, when the name of the *band* was Hybrid Theory. After they renamed to Linkin Park, they kept Hybrid Theory as the name of their first album, but High Voltage was not included in it, likely because it had no Chester vocals, or because the theme of the lyrics isn't in line with the rest of the album. When the album was re-released in Asia, it included this re-do of the song, which completely revamped it to be more in-line with the sound of the rest of the album. This song is mostly unknown because when people hear about 'the original High Voltage' its likely to be the one on the EP, and when they hear about 'the remix of High Voltage' they usually get the version on Reanimation with Pharoahe Monch and DJ Babu. I think most Linkin Park fans would agree that this song showcases the best of Mike Shinoda's rapping. The the complex structure and rhyme scheme, the numerous references to everything from the occult to philosophical concepts to criticism of society, and the aggressive delivery and layering of the vocals all serve as evidence for Shinoda's mastery over rap, as he puts it. He brought some of this into Fort Minor, but in general The Rising Tied shed the conceptual depth and went with a more mainstream approach, even when Shinoda talked about personal subjects.

A friend of mine asked me: Nice beat mate, what band is this?I replied: Sit beside me child, and prepare for a magical journey between human history.

Mike is in a rock band and he's a better rapper than all these new rappers.

Why hasn't Linkin Park done more songs like this? It really showcases just good of a rapper Mike Shinoda is

Mike's rapping is at it's best in "High Voltage"."High Voltage" is one of many in their vast catalog that truly shows me why they're the best at what they do. I think in order to truly understand Linkin Park, you have to listen to all those different songs that aren't normally being played, like "My December", this, "Step Up", then transition over to some of their old demos, then listen to as many of their LPU discs and songs. I think that when you do all that, you have an even better perspective than you had on them before you did that.

I like to visualize songs sometimes and when I hear the marching bit, I think of The Hybrid Theory Soldier. Except not just one of them, I hear a large group marching together the song and off to battle. If you can personify it like that. When I look at the album cover or inside the CD case and see the image(s), I just see the image and not it come to life like it is in the song. Btw I like how "Cure For The Itch" segues into the song during the intro. It's a really cool transition.

RIP Chester. Been listening to these guys since 2000 and this was one of my favorite songs when no one knew about it because it was an old demo song

So i was listening to this in the living room. And my 8 year old brother comes in and starts singing along, which i'm fine with, but out of nowhere he said "HIGH GOLDFISH" and was laughing on the floor!

Believe it or not Mike is one of the best Mcs to come out of the 2000s

This song really defines Mike’s rapping style and flow, and with the added Chester vocals it makes for a completely awesome and unique song

The reason why I love Linkin park is that because they are real. Many artists nowadays try to be something that they are not and therefore sound fake but never with the Linkin park. Their words are so easy the understand and their lyrics is so relevant to the events of the life that many of us at least once have stumbled upon with. I mean whenever I listen to their music i relay to what they are singing about because I’ve been in the same position before, the only thing that is different is just the scenario of the life expression.

I buckle knees like leg braces
Cast a spell of instrumentalist on all of you MC's who hate us
So, you can try on, leave you without a shoulder to cry on
From now to infinity, let icon be bygones
I fire bombs, ghostly notes haunt this
I tried threats but moved on to a promise

I don't care if mike won't ever be a deep lyricist, this is fucken awesome.

This song is so underrated, it can also be used as an ending song for a movie.

Love this track, honestly should've been on Hybrid Theory itself(especially since the intro is basically the outro of Cure for the Itch)

I first listened to this when I was in high school. Got addicted to it memorized the lyrics. LIFE HAPPENS. I don't listen to it for over 10 years. Suddenly in the mood for Linkin Park and play Hybrid Theory. This song comes on. I start singing the lyrics word for word. 10 years and not a word forgotten. Damn good song.
