It’s clear what he was saying, and that the childless cat lady part was just sarcasm. It also had nothing to do with IVF or with women who have trouble conceiving. In fact he made a point of mentioning he wasn’t talking about them.
It’s dangerous to the future of a country when a lot of people in power don’t have or don’t WANT children because these same people are cluelessly making policy that affects our families and our children.

Exactly. I've been married for 26 years and have no children. I have cats, and I foster cats. I'm not who he's talking about. Some marriages don't produce children. We never "tried, " so maybe that's a good thing? We contribute to society and support those who do have children. People have lost the ability to understand messages. Some women don't make the decision never to have kids. Some put it off for a multitude of reasons and then miss their window. I put off kids due to money reasons. I always thought you needed a stable environment to bring a child into. Then when I finally was financially secure I am too old to have kids. Life just sometimes works out that way.
