How to Convert Video Files for FREE With VLC Media Player.
In this video I will show you how to convert videos files to any format such as MKV, MP4, AVI, MP3 etc using a program called VLC Media Player. This is a 100% free program and probably the media player for windows 11 and windows 10. VLC Player can convert your video files to a lot of different formats and it wont put any watermarks on your videos once converted like a lot of video converters do. There are no annoying adverts like a lot of other free video file converters out there.

Been using VLC for a LONG time and had no idea you could convert files with it, just recently learned I could stream it to my phone. I used Handbrake to convert files, but VLC does it SO much faster. Next time I need to convert something, I'm going to give this a try. Thanks for the great info and advice you give.

back in the day, way back when, i used to use dvd shrink to rip video files, and vlc was always my media player of choice to check for lipsyncing/jumping, for the record i recently redownloaded dvd shrink and opened up a legit dvd on my sons pc to demonstrate it to him, due to todays pc being much faster i had to enable the preview window in dvd shrink to prevent it from crashing :), when i used it years ago i had to have the preview window OFF or it would crash :) :), nice to see vlc still has its edge even 20 years plus later :) :)

I used VLC as a media player for years but about 5yrs ago switched over to MPC-BE because I like the interface better. I had no idea VLC could convert files I've been using Handbrake.

Sometimes (very often in my cases) only think you need to do is to remux original video, no reencoding necessary.

I use FFMPEG for normal conversion, but you need to know how to use a command line program. There are several Windows GUI front ends for it too.

Thanx for the video. I've used VLC for years . Mostly use the convertor for converting audio to .mp3 files. Video. Well some success bit not 100%

I'm stuck in a loop. After i've converted a file, i'm greeted with this message. "The output file already exists. If recording continues, the file will be overidden and its content will be lost" The two options available are "Overwrite" and "Keep existing file"
