The stasis chamber works by a glitch where changing dimensions allows you to have a fishing rod that isn't limited by distance.
This only works if you retract the hook in the same dimension as it was cast, so you needed to be in the overworld to be teleported back.

TLDR: You owe your stasis chamber an apology. :(

For anyone curious on why the stasis chamber did not work it is because of a feature in Minecraft which states that you cannot use ender pearls to travel through dimensions so in theory it was a good idea however was blocked by this factor
