My first ever laptop works great as a CIA torture device because its so slow that anyone using it goes insane from how bad windows 10 runs on it

I have an old hp laptop from 2012. When I brought it to school someone broke the screen (idk who did it). Then, I'm buying a new laptop, and using the hp laptop as a computer

Great video! I have a 2013 HP laptop running Mint Linux and it's great. As you said, lost or damaged not a big deal. As for the price, you can't beat it. Thanks for sharing

Awesome video!
As others have said I like that you showed using the laptops rather than finding other uses for them.
I'm currently using an "older" laptop as my daily machine for the most part, it's a budget model asus with 8 gigs of ram (upgraded) and a dual-core i3 with 4 threads.
I bought it back in 2015 when I was a high school student, I also have a desktop at home but since I stay at my SO's apartment a lot I use this laptop over at their place.
I remember thinking this computer was super slow and would be unusable in this day and age, but I've been pleasantly surprised at how well it's been working with multiple programs and browser windows open!
I think you make a great point about not having to worry about these laptops since they're so easily replaceable, It makes me want to continue to buy cheap laptops for the foreseeable future! (whenever I'll need a replacement)

Great video of the old laptops being used for 'useful' tasks.
Hey, where my '12 days of Christmas log fire' videos? I put them on last Christmas and the family loved them, and I live in Australia with a Summer Christmas!

I have a small collection of old, mostly core2duo laptops, the formula is usually put ssd’s and max de ram. Most of them are running linux now, but also run Windows 10. Even have older compaq’s with 32 bit processors

I actually have a few old laptops that I have collected over the years. I have a Dell Vostro 1500 that is a laptop from 2007 that I play Diablo and phantasmagoria on.

Great seeing actual use cases for these old computers, far too often do people in videos throw out ideas they know they'll never use personally. Before moving I got quite a bit of use out of my 867mhz Titanium PowerBook as a dedicated jukebox, running through my itunes library with the visualizer in full screen. It worked great, at least until I had to let it be for a bit to cool down

I know this was a year ago, but I appreciate the originality of the ideas here.

I would kill for an old laptop. I go to a type of school that uses laptops instead of paper obviously the laptops they give you are really slow and I really want a ThinkPad no matter what I’ve tried. I can’t find anything on the market that’s in the range of my budget. I’m still searching after six months for an old laptop that has okay battery life and specs just to open brave and OneNote i’ve just come across your channel and I love everything you do. Please keep up with reviewing old laptops.👍

My go to travel laptop is a Dell Latitude E7440 with the touch screen. Has 16gb ram and upgraded wifi 6. Has decent battery life and good standby, it's usually good to go even if I don't touch it for a week or two. I chose it more over my mid 2012 13" mbp for pretty just the touchscreen. Great for browsing on the couch since I can just use the screen to scroll instead of the track pad. It also seems to run windows 10 better than the mbp running Monterey.

Typing this on the Dell at 0:05. That machine is really great, except for the hinges getting loose. I like it better than the new ones the company gave us 3 weeks ago. The screen is phenomenal and better than the new one. Keyboard has an asome feel. Port selection is decent. Trackpad a little small, but a nicer feel than the new one with force feedback. It has 8GB/128GB SSD, and that works pretty well. Biggest problem with the storare is that most programs today contain a full Chrome browser and therefore are like 300MB size. If that part could be shared among programs....

I have several ThinkPad X250s that my old work were throwing out, with a number of expandable batteries. All i3, base spec. On one of them I've put in an i7 board and a bigger SSD along with expanding the RAM to 8GB and put a 1080p display in. For around £120, it's a very decent device. Another one I've put in an i5 board and 8GB of RAM and is another useful one to have.

I regularly take the i7 one with some spare batteries when I'm travelling and it's genuinely excellent. Could easily be a daily driver...

I have a 2014 Lenovo laptop with a Celeron 2957U, 4GB of RAM and a 240GB SSD (originally had a 500GB HDD) from my mom after the old HDD broke and she got a new HP Laptop, it currently has the latest Windows 11 23H2 (now I put back 10 again) but originally had Windows 8.1 and over it's livespan it also ran Windows 10, 7 and 11 22H2
and now I also have a 2012 Asus Netbook from a cousin with a AMD C-60 APU, 2GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD currently running Windows 7 (originally had 8.0, but was already upgraded to 10 when I got it, but it runs better on 7)
both are currently used for Windows experiments mainly
I also have a ThinkPad T40 from a friend but it's HDD died

In January this year, I bought a donated 2018 Win 10 Dell Inspiron 15 - 3567, i3-7130 CPU from a local Salvation Army.
in functioning condition-permitting a hardware check in store.
The 1TB HDD was very slow and, presumably, the reason for donating to Salvation Army.
Cost plus a new SSD and RAM upgrade was $105.00 USD; much cheaper than the price of a Chrome laptop.
Regrettably, I don't see newer laptops very often as most donations I find are usually XP or Vista.
CPU not rated for Windows 11, so it stays Windows 10 unless I run off a USB with a Linux based OS.
Plays movies very well and is now my carry laptop.

I am so happy I found your video !
I have collected many laptops over the years and I have moved and unpacked and have 4 different laptops 👩‍💻 lol 😂 old ones the newest one dated back 2010!! The other 3 even older 😂
I was thinking about erasing everything on them if I can ?
You gave me some great ideas 😊

Use one as an 'Audio Hub', connected to good speakers + downloaded equalizer.
World wide radio stations, any language. Continuous music - any genre.
Archived lectures, tutorials, any subject. [during that tinkering in the garage moment]
Good for "White Noise" for those who need it all night. Sea sounds, Forest sounds . .
Prefer 432 Hz music? - all day - low volume = very relaxing atmosphere.
[can change any music to 432Hz].

I like this type of video. I have an old HP Elitebook 8440p i5, wich I had for free. I added en 256 Kingston SSD and 8 GB of Ram and I changed the battery. I use it for Netflix, Youtube etc. I installed Zorin OS Lite and it performs great. This laptop has also an SD Card Slot, so I decided to install on Recalbox on the sd Card and now it can play games up to PS1.
