Great advice. I can vouch for tracking your spending. You will be surprised at how much $$$ is going to purchases you thought "Oh, I hardly spend anything on A few years ago I tracked how much was being spent on restaurants/bars, drive through, carryout, and delivery meals. Oh, that can't be right...and it was LOL! Nipped that in the bud!

Good information. The envelope system really helps. Unexpected stuff comes every month. That is the toughest category to keep ahead of monthly.

married for 29 yrs, till she passed. she was a disabled stay at home. she worked the budget, i worked the work. we were always broke, even tho the house was paid for and there was money for bills and day to day. turns out, when she passed i found closets stuffed with stuff and learned she was a shopoholic. ''just because you ''budget'', does not mean u do it well... 6 years on, i don't budget, i don't
keep track and everything is auto pay. ''last 6 years have been the best ever.''

Thank you Rachel! I'll have to try the misc. category for dental and vision appointments, these bills are never consistent and it drives me nuts. Worst system ever, you've had my insurance for two years. You should be able to tell me how much my appointment is going to be at the beginning of my appointment and add on work from there. SMH <3 Thanks again!

Re different but known items each month sinking funds work to achieve consistency.

I remember when Dave said you should not have a miscellaneous category, because you’re being specific about where your money is going.
