In this we check out the Komet K.O.D.A., more or less a guitar amp in a box with some interesting tonal capabilities. Stick with us as we dive into all the controls and see what sort of sounds we can wring out. Much more on the way.

I appreciate every video. I don't know crap about anything you are talking about, just love to listen. Thanks!

Nice tones and playing in the opening segment. Not too bright. Not too twangy. Nice tone. The clean sound on this video is good and the pedal sounds good. AT around 8:14 on the timeline. Sounds great. I liked that gain at around 3:00 on the dial. I think that 13:50 on the timeline is the best sound out of this rig. I prefer amp gain and a boost pedal myself. Cool YT channel. The original channel is very cool. I have watched for years.

Great jam! Never knew about your talent on guitar, been a subscriber to your weapons channel for a couple years. So awesome!

Awesome! I love the Iraqvet channel--never realized you and Chad were guitar nerds too. You got chops, bruh! Can't wait to see more gear demos.

Loving this content Eric! You need to advertise this channel on the Iraqvet channel, maybe have a video as a dedicated advertisment. It deserves more exposure. :)

I have a guitar question, my dad had an ovation viper 3 before I was born... and I would really like to play one or buy one, but I was wondering the neck profile and factory pickup tone comparisons... I play a hardtail texmex tele and a custom built strat with the squire neck unfortunately... just want some more info before I buy

And I'm looking for more of a SRV sound with my strat and was wondering the closest set up you have heard, as far as pick ups and amps... im not a huge fan of the texas specials I dont really think they sound the same

Just a thought, thinking out loud... maybe you like things right where they are, exactly the way it is, and that's perfectly good... just a thought to an increased viewership participation or interactive viewership, though: Perhaps, like our arms, you'd have some interest in exploring all those "hidden gems" and "killer deals" that we've all stumbled over, in trades and pawnshops, etc.... and generate some interactivity with your audience by having viewers/subscribers showing off some of their beloved gear, as you compare it to thoughts/impressions of your same or similar or closely related gear. You could announce stuff that you'll be profiling in upcoming weeks' videos-- and if we have a generational or older/newer "family" version of the same effect, instrument, speakers or amplifiers, we could add in our experiences before you air it. And you edit in as necessary to your own presentation. We could send in clips of the things we have found and used, and you dig up the stuff you have related to it.... Just define some easy parameters for us, so it's not too much more work for you-- like max 5 minutes long, good quality sound and a still photo beats crappy video, and maybe a clear & concise description, followed by the known quantities like year, model, cost, quick anecdote, quick setup confirmation, etc.... unlike shooting, we can share and show off gear slightly more openly, as it doesn't have the same practical/logistical concerns. And also, there is quite a bit of variance and variety in the way people use their stuff, made crazy-interesting by peoples' skills and selection of guitars. I'm pretty sure that everything I do with my SG undoubtedly sounds different than your single coiled Fenders, even through the same chain of stuff....

But, it would be neat to see what we are all doing out there with the same stuff you are using or have used along the way. For example, once upon a time I stumbled over a small combo from the late 80s called a Trace Elliot Tramp... for a hundred bucks, on craigs just passing through a town. This is a Made In England solid state 2 channel amp, housing a Made in England Celestion V30 (with... analog reverb box, the gain channel has boost for cut-through lead or just savage metal, particularly for the time period...). Rated at "40W" but who knows; seems louder than a 40w solid state amp. I have never heard a solid state amp that so resembled or behaved like a valve amp. It just freaked me right out... I had never heard of Trace Elliot outside of being a "cult beloved" bass amp maker. It's not quite loud enough to gig with, unless mic'd up... but loud enough to jam and record with. But maybe I just think it sounds like certain tube amps because my particular style is not nuanced enough to "give it away" and so it's my own limitation that creates the similarity. Could be. So when I play it, I sometimes think, "I wonder if Eric would think it behaves like a tube amp, or does his style betray the amp's transistor soul?" 🤔

Maybe that in and of itself is an idea for a video 😁... I'd be interested to hear if you have stumbled upon a solid state amp that could adequately fool you-- "if nobody told you this wasn't a tube amp, could you tell?" When you pick strings, tubes amps just do certain things that solid state amps don't do (like sag, as you are mentioning when I type this...) especially at volume. It would be neat to see you guys put each other to a blind test... and see if there is a transistor amp that can fool you, or vice-versa. Like the guitar version of "Meltdown." 😆 I have always thought of transistor amps as kind of the "smokeless powder" of guitar gear... in the sense that everything about them is more practical and ideal than messy tube amps, and yet... because of that god forsaken tone phenomenon, it is almost impossible not to use tube amps, when the going really gets going. At least at certain volumes... But the solid state amp that sounds and behaves ("handles?") like a tube amp is something of a holy grail to me... because it would be so useful. I've used modeling amps and pedaling for certain recordings, and they're incredibly useful, but when it gets loud for live playing, the tables turn and transistor amps start to show tone limitations that are most easily solved by just having high quality tube amps. So... I imagine this is somewhat common... I love a tube amp's sound, but sometimes can't stand their fussy idiosyncracies.

(One of my amps is the bell on middle G right now, ringing up a loud storm, and I wanna throw it out the window, rather than open it and find out which tube has gone rogue microphonic on me...It's getting impossible to "play through" though... 😡)

I'm not telling you anything you don't already know. I have rambled on enough... but like I said, just thinking our loud while I watch your video. 🤓 Okie dokie, brother. Thanks for all you do, we love it.
