How To: Make HUGE Brushes in Procreate || VisualTimmy

I had several people ask me, "how can I make my brushes BIGGER?", so I figured I would take some time and explain the settings that directly affect the size of your procreate brushes.

I had several people ask me, "how can I make my brushes BIGGER?", so I figured I would take some time and explain the settings that directly affect the size of your procreate brushes.

#1: CANVAS SIZE
The canvas size plays a huuugeee role in how big your brushes will LOOK.
This setting doesn't affect the actual brush, but it will affect how large the brush looks when painted on the canvas.
Using a high-resolution canvas (ex: 5,000 x 5,000) will make your brushes look a lot smaller than a canvas at 1,000 x 1,000.

*note: you don't necessarily want to compromise the size of your canvas to make your brushes look better! I always go for large file sizes at 300dpi.

#2: GENERAL - SIZE LIMIT
This setting will take your brush shape, and multiply it to create a larger brush size.
You can easily just slide the "MAX" setting to 100%.
Be aware this will distort the resolution of your brush & you might end up with some jagged lines or pixelation on your brushes.
You can also adjust the "MIN" setting so that your brushes don't get too small when using things like pressure-size.

#3: STROKE SPACING
One of the most sneaky trick settings that actually increase your brush size is Stroke Spacing.
Mainly, this setting spaces out each instance of the brush... but for some reason, it affects the size of your brush too!
If you slide the spacing from 0% to around 10% your brush will grow in size, giving you a bigger, fuller brush.


#4: SHAPE SOURCE
Last, but definitely not least: Shape Source.
This setting is the most important because every slider and control will directly be affected by the size of your original brush shape.
Make sure to use as much space as you can when importing new shape sources. The difference is staggering.
