100 Miles of Thrifting! Highway Sales, Shows & Estate Sales

The big Highway 41 Sale is next weekend! We're taking fliers to the antique shops, vendor malls and local hangouts along 100 miles of old Kentucky highway, shopping along the way and showing some of the sites that make these old roads the places to step back in time...and score great deals on antiques and vintage in the process!

We start by dropping off fliers for our own sale at Southern Kentucky Flea Market on the Tennessee border, where $5 Vera sheet sets, colorful afghans and true antique furniture and crockery set the tone for our drive. Two pink elephants later, we find Funky and cool shops and a vendor mall in Hopkinsville, sweet deals on a pair of 1950s anthropromorphic kitchen jars in Crofton and an Empoli bottle we leave behind for someone coming to the real sale next weekend!

We follow Hwy. 41 up through Amish and railroad towns to Earlington, where our Storehouse Sale and the annual antique show will be next weekend! Then we take a long moment shopping for bargain priced Presidential plates, Fenton glass and cool 1960s costume jewelry while we spread the news about our storehouse blowout to antique shop and vendor mall co-horts in nearby Madisonville.

Halfway there! We make the rest of the Hwy. 41/Hwy. 41A loop, talk about how and where to find the roadside yard sales when they erupt next weekend, shop two more vendor malls in Henderson, and then...that place in the middle of nowhere comes into view. A red barn is just starting to fill with storage locker items being brought to the highway sale, and we score a 1960s swung vase and a Pyrex mixing bowl ($175-200 value) for just $25! This is what makes prowling these old highways fun at these sales, and we're so excited to go finish preparing our big thrift-priced sale for the coming big weekend!

P.S.: We're open all three days next weekend, so some see us on the way to (or from) the @ThrifterJunkerVintageHunter co-op Pop Up Sale and YouTuber meet-and-greet in Bedford, Indiana next Saturday! They're just 100 miles north of the Riverside Antique Mall in Evansville, where the Hwy. 41 Sale starts on its northern end.

I'm pretty sure those stars-n-stripes drinking glasses are from 1976. I remember having those in our home the year I graduated high school, 1976, which was the bicentennial year too.

Ooh, pink glass ! That first vanity you showed, my aunt had the exact same one . Interesting how items travel around . As my aunt and her hubby lived in an old Canadian Pacific Railway station ( husband was a station agent ). They lived in a small border town known as Coutts, Alberta ( entry port to Montana ). Seeing that vanity was a shocker . That trip looks like so much fun . Wish I could be there .
Good luck on your sale 😊

I have to chuckle when you mention selling to the hipsters in Seattle. I'm in a suburb north of Seattle and I find alot of mid-century items in my local thrift stores and resell them over Facebook to mostly Seattlelites.

When someone says, ‘Your prices are great, ’ it often means, ‘You don’t know the value of what you have, and I plan to profit from it.’ I watch your videos so resellers can’t take advantage of my elderly parents. I’m glad that knowledge is more accessible through Google Lens and social media.
