About 41% of start-up founders at Paris’ Station F campus are female – higher than that of the wider international tech scene.

But getting a spot at the biggest start up firm campus in the world is tough, where founders are generally expected to be working on their product full-time and have a prototype.

For Dora Sabino, founder of Blazar, said being a founder of a start up in med tech in an environment typically has more men as CEOs can be “daunting” for some.

Roxanne Varza, the director of Station F, said 10 years ago people were not even “conscious there was a gender issue in tech”, but today they are very engaged.

“Every single partner programme that we have at Station F need to do its best effort to get females in the applicant pool,” she said.

This film is from Click – the BBC’s weekly technology show.

How about the 'gender disparity' in dirty, difficult, and dangerous jobs BBC?
No? I thought not.

Too much focus on gender issues. Why the BBC not discuss the real issues addressing everyone.

They aren't, that's how. You can't keep pointing at everything and claiming gender disparity against women, all the while absolutely ignoring every single gender disparity against men, not to mention you can't go claiming those disparities exist where they do not. It's called lying, and the former is called double standards and misandry.

How about tackling gender disparity in medicine, BBC?
Around 70/80% of all medical students are now female.

This is beyond satire. The woman still ended up in the kitchen cooking food. Hilarious!

I am a woman and I work in tech. Tech is generally not welcoming to women so it can be hard to stay in it if you don’t feel you have a future in it.

Good to hear they don't do quotas, but I wonder how they then encorce "more applicants in the pool". That's something that comes down to whether women feel like going into tech or not (more often than not, they don't - due to biological nature of (on average) being more interested in people, rather than in things). I fully support anyone of any gender chasing any career they want, but "gender imbalance" is a fake concept brought into the world by people who don't understand biology or psychology. It's not something "to fix", it's just something that exists, due to men and women being different.

Most CEOs are men should never be used as an argument. Those men got there but not giving a damn about those other people. They work for themselves, built up themselves, and worked their balls off for it, working many long hours and potentially sacrificing all forms of free time or family. If you have the same attitude, it shouldn't matter what gender you are.

Yes, by favouring one sex over another, whether they're as good or not. Yay for progress.

Great. One thing . There are more women at university then men. Who still believes these old tropes about gender? It's like you're stuck in 2013.
