How to Use a Towel Holder to Attach Zippers by the Yard (Zipper Tape)

In this video, I will show you how to use an inexpensive towel holder to attach zipper pulls (I used the adhesive on the back of my towel holder to attach it to a drink coaster that I already had on hand).

I use the fork method! I dont normally deal with zippers by the roll but a friend gave me heavy duty zippers when he also gave me his 1933 vintage industrial. So I was trying one for a bag but the head came off the end before I could sew a stop on it. I viewed videos and saw the fork idea. I used a small pickle fork upside down weighted with a book. Also turned the zipper head upside down and it worked just like this hand towel hook. This looks cool for handy tool esp. the way you have it on a coaster, that looks ok on a shelf etc. when not using. Finding the fork method had me buying some zipper buy the roll at walmart. Normally all my zippers are found at thrift stores. Been collecting since the 70s but upping my bag sewing has depleted my supply!

I ordered these as soon as you first showed it- it does work great, haven't yet attached it to anything though, and they also actually work for holding kitchen towels so that helps with what to do with the other 3! Haha

I saw another video that recommended attaching the towel hook vertically on the front of their sewing machine. I didn’t really want to attach it to my machine in case I didn’t like it there and how difficult it might be to remove it without leaving adhesive on my machine. I used a Command Velcro strip to attach it to the front of my machine so I would be able to remove it without leaving a mark. I must admit I do like using it hanging vertically instead of flat on a table and the Command Velcro Strip worked great! (I tested removing it and there was no mark!)
