If you pay attention to the light, there is in fact more than 4 and she is holding 6, one of them has their light partially visible, and the other one is hidden behind the other sticks.

Actually for all the people who are arguing, when mei’s mom lights the incense sticks, it shows 4 but in the next frames, they use motion blur to make it 5, then use motion blur again to make it 6. They use motion blur so they don’t need to go into more smaller details and then go over the movie budget
